Client and service search restrictions

In the lists of clients and various types of services, it is possible to apply certain restrictions to the search feature. You can specify the maximum number of displayed results and minimum number of characters entered into the full-text search field.

Settings

• The relevant settings can be found in the user account settings in Settings / Administrators / Administrators.
• You can find the Search restrictions (Clients) checkbox in the Personal data section.
• If you check the box, two fields appear: Minimum number of chars and Maximum number of results.
• If you enter a particular value into the Minimum number of chars field, the value will be used when search results are displayed. The same applies to the Maximum number of results field.
• The value entered into the Minimum number of chars field specifies the minimum number of characters that a given user must enter into the full-text search field for any results to appear. When fewer characters are entered, no results are displayed.
• The value entered into the Maximum number of results field specifies the maximum number of results that are displayed to a given user. Further results (above the threshold) are not displayed.
• Both the restrictions can be used at the same time.
• Information about the restrictions is displayed on the page. The user is asked to specify their input a little more.

Examples

Example 1: You entered 3 into the Minimum number of chars field. You left the Maximum number of results field blank.

• You have to enter at least 3 characters into the full-text search field for any results to appear.
• The number of displayed results is not limited.

Example 2: You left the Minimum number of chars field blank. You entered 100 into the Maximum number of results field.

• You do not have to enter anything into the full-text search field. Some results appear.
• The number of displayed results is limited to 100. Further results are filtered out.

Example 3: You entered 3 into the Minimum number of chars field. You entered 100 into the Maximum number of results field.

• You have to enter at least 3 characters into the full-text search field for any results to appear.
• The number of displayed results is limited to 100. Further results are filtered out.
